Please note that we have created a Reader's Forum for this title; we hope that you will use it to exchange and share additional information and family tradition. Volume 4 is now in preparation, as is the content for a Byrne Armorials publication. PROSPECTUS: This important work was to be published in just three volumes, detailed below; additional information and the intention to extend the scope to cover origins throughout Ireland means that a fourth volume is now envisaged. The author has researched and collated a vast amount of genealogical material, much of which has been published for the first time. It has become clear that a great deal of additional material is preserved in private family archives and tradition, and that this ambitious work must be subject to revision. To this end, production makes use of “print-on-demand” technology and there is a moderated website to accept comment and information. The first two volumes were published Spring 2010, with Volume III Spring 2012 and IV to be published within twelve months or so. Subsequently, the author will maintain the text in the light of such additional information as may be received; this means that future editions will include all corrections and amendments.
ABOUT THE BOOK Some details of each volume and the contents lists are given elsewhere on this site (just follow the links below), including onward links to the author's introduction to each volume. The work reflects extensive research and study and, inevitably, includes information about individuals and events which may be seen as challenging. It is hoped that the associated website will enable individuals to respond if they have information or tradition which could augment or correct historical or genealogical content. The author has tried to avoid the inclusion of living persons in the genealogical tables except with prior consent.
HOW YOU CAN HELP Please bring this forthcoming publication to the attention of any Byrnes and O'Byrnes that you know. The success of the initial three volumes will assist in production of the volume scheduled for publication early in 2013.
